Week 4 Blogpost

Kia ora e te whānau

Well, our week was cut short, wasn't it! Nick and I hope you are all doing ok and enjoying a few days of slowing down a little.

We began our week by starting our second speech. This week's task was to choose between the two topics; technology is our future or sport, science, and health is our future. All Hōpara students then had to research body paragraph ideas and begin to write their introduction. Fractions are still an area of maths we are focusing on, which will continue in the coming weeks (whether we are in school or not!).

We also started our "Maths shopping trip" activity, the purpose of this task was for students to see how fractions can be used in the "real world". Students learned how to subtract 1/10 (10%), 1/4 (25%) from their original products.

Please check the APP for Hōpara updates over the coming days. We will continue to use the doc as a running information sheet, so you or your children can go back and check on other messages or key information.

Fingers crossed we will will see everyone next week!
