Week 2 Term 3 Blogpost
Kia ora e te whānau
The quote above really resonates with Hōpara as a team this week! We are currently in the depths of learning to write speeches, "asking for help" has been an essential focus for us all! We all know that the more we talk and conference, the better the outcomes will be! Hōpara students should be incredibly proud of the māhi they have produced in the last two weeks, and we hope they have shared their successes at home.Fractions Golf tournament: On Wednesday, we had a class golf tournament. Students played against each other in 9 holes, meeting the correct equivalent fraction. We got down to the final 4 (Tommy, Matt P, Matthew B, and Billie) and had a playoff for 1,2,3, and 4th. The gold medal went to Tommy, Silver Matt P, Bronze Matt B, and 4th place went to Billie!
CHILL CLUBS: All Hōpara students now have a new set of CHILL tasks that they have personally designed or were given. As a team, we continue to refine this programme to ensure it is student-led and driven but also ensure there is accountability. Please check in with your child about how they are tracking with these tasks, they are due at the end of week 5.
PTA Firewood Silent Auction - one week left to bid. Bidding form at the office. Feel free to put a bid in for friends and family too. Ready to burn now, or stockpile for next year! Thanks
CAN DRIVE:
Can Drive for Community Wellbeing North Canterbury:
Agents of Change is our focus value for this term. Agents of change look for opportunities to help others and make a difference in their world.
To put this value into action, we will join in with other schools across North Canterbury to support Cans for a Cause. Please bring items to donate to school next week. Look for the box in your team.
Any non-perishable items that you normally put in your grocery shop make good donations, also everyday items such as cans of food, toiletries, toilet paper and washing up liquid.
Your donation will help make up food parcels that will be given to families in need across the Hurunui and Waimakariri using our network of North Canterbury foodbanks.
Thank you for your support!
FROM THE PTA -
Look out for the Firewood Silent Auction running the next two weeks, starting Monday.
3 separate trailer loads of wood (= three auctions)! The bidding form can be found at the school office. Auction closes on Friday the13th of August at 3pm.
