Week 2 Hōpara Blogpost

Kia ora e te whānau

We began the week with an amazing African drumming session in the MPF. All students had the opportunity to play an African drum, dance to an African song and sing proudly (below we have attached a photo and there is a video already posted on Seesaw). At the end of the day we had a whole school concert where all teams performed a piece they had learn't - the vibe was incredible!!

On Tuesday (gosh it was hot!) we walked down to the Pony Club and guided students through the Cross Country coarse. We are looking forward to the actual Cross Country next week...especially the addition of the "Fun run"!

In the next week you will get a notification for the first Learning Journal of the term, please see the below marking system for these this term. Your child will now be given a number that corresponds to a comment, both Nick and myself firmly believe that 1 on 1 conferences and direct feedback daily is far more powerful for our students.

SHOWQUEST -
After weeks of practise, we have finally reached the time where our Showquest team will show off their skills to the public! Here is the key information you need to know if your child is either in the Performance Team or the Tech Team.

ON MONDAY -
  • Come to school dressed in mufti that you can dance in, with your black clothes named and in a bag (Techies just wear your black clothes).
  • Bring food for the day and a drink bottle. Students will be performing in bare feet, so no special footwear is required.
  • Your child will go to their teams as normal and sign in.
From 9am onwards -
9am - All students will meet in the MPF. This will be a time for final run through and we will start to do hair and makeup etc
12:pm - We will catch the bus into the Town Hall
2:50 - Clarkville practise time on the stage
5pm - Dinner - Pizza provided by Juliana
7pm - Performance until around 9pm - doors open from 6:30pm

Once we arrive at the town hall we will stay right up until the evening performance.
You will not be able to see the students backstage, but after the evening is finished we will make a plan as to where you can pick your child up from.

ALL STUDENTS NEED TO BE PICKED UP FROM THE TOWN HALL at 9AM, BY A PARENT/CAREGIVER.
THERE WILL BE NO BUS RETURNING TO CLARKVILLE.

CROSS COUNTRY -
This will be weather dependent. The venue for the Cross Country is the Kaiapoi Pony Club on South Eyre Road on Wednesday. We will be walking down and leaving at 9am. Our expected time to return to school will be lunchtime.

WE DESPERATELY NEED PARENT SUPPORT FOR THIS DAY - PLEASE EMAIL EITHER ASHLEY OR NICK IF YOU CAN ASSIST US.
