Week 9 Blogpost

Kia ora e te whānau  Welcome to Week 9! Our main focus this week has been speech presentations. We have been so impressed with the quality of writing and the creativity of the presentations. It is so evident that a lot of hard work has gone into these, and we have been thoroughly entertained while learning a range of interesting facts.  We've also found some time to build up speed in basic facts and demonstrate skill in coding during the Scratch assessment. Lynda Meyer was so impressed that she's going to get her grandson to teacher her how to code in Scratch! Next week we will move away from assessment and have a break with some creative projects. On Tuesday our Future Problem Solvers will have their 'lockup' competition from 8:45 am to 10:45am. There is also tennis coaching on this day. We will spend our afternoons practising skills for Athletics. Please make sure your child brings appropriate footwear throughout next week.  CLARKVILLE PET SHOW ENTRIES -  Entries were

Kia ora e te whānau  Welcome to Week 8!  This week we have been reviewing our learning from the mixed term we have had. We were lucky enough to have Alex and Oskar lead a scratch challenge, this involved three different levels of difficulty. Both boys showed incredible leadership and guidance towards others. Below are some photos of the boys in action!  On Thursday Hōpara continued with the science experiment we started before lockdown. Students were investigating how to build the best possible ramp while only changing one variable. Most students chose to investigate the length of the ramp and how it affected the distance a toy car would roll and the results were quite surprising. Combining the results from Thursdays and those from before lockdown, where they investigated the best angle for a ramp. Most of Hōpara now have a very good understanding of optimum ramp design. It sounds like everyone enjoyed their lockdown experience doing; baking, biking, walking, and having extra time to sleep in!  Today we had a whole school quiz. The purpose of this quiz was to reconnect as a school and catch up with our buddies. There were five rounds with a mixture of questions suited for all age groups. Well done to the winning teams! Below are some pictures from our awesome quiz!  CLARKVILLE PET SHOW ENTRIES -  Entries were sent out last week.
